Privacy Policy

Knoobi is a study app provided by Alexandre Nussbaumer, Switzerland. This policy explains how information is handled when you use the app and its support pages. For questions or privacy requests, contact alexnsbmr@gmail.com.

1. Information stored on your device and in iCloud

Knoobi stores your first name, referral answer, study goal, study struggle, onboarding status, and app preferences locally. Study sets contain extracted source text, generated questions and explanations, and learning records such as answers, dates, and concepts to revisit.

On supported devices, study sets and learning records sync using Apple's CloudKit private database associated with your Apple Account. Your first name and onboarding profile are kept in a separate local store. Sync depends on your iCloud settings, available storage, and connectivity. Local-only storage is used when the app cannot initialize its cloud store. Removing the app alone does not necessarily remove iCloud data or device backups.

2. Preparing a quiz

Knoobi reads text from selected photos, PDFs, and EPUBs on your device, or uses text you paste. When you choose to prepare a quiz, the text needed for generation is transmitted over an encrypted connection to AIProxy and then to the OpenAI API. The current app sends extracted text, rather than uploading the original photo or document file, for this process.

Your saved first name, onboarding answers, and quiz-answer history are not added to this request. However, personal information written inside the material you provide is part of that text. Only submit material you are entitled to use, and avoid unnecessary sensitive information.

OpenAI processes the text and generated response to provide the quiz. Its API data controls state that API inputs and outputs are not used for model training by default. Abuse-monitoring logs may retain content for up to 30 days, with exceptions for legal or safety requirements; other limited operational retention may apply. This is not a promise of zero retention. AIProxy processes requests and device-verification information to protect the service and enforce usage limits. Its SDK generates a client identifier; operational records can include IP address, request status, usage metadata, and error responses. These records help diagnose failures, prevent abuse, and understand service usage. See AIProxy's Privacy Policy for its processing and retention practices.

3. Subscriptions and purchase information

Apple processes payments. Knoobi does not receive your payment-card details. RevenueCat processes an automatically generated app user identifier, transaction and product information, purchase history, subscription status, and relevant app, device, and storefront information. This supports purchases, restoration, fraud prevention, access to paid features, and subscription analytics.

Knoobi does not send your saved name, study material, or answers to RevenueCat as customer attributes. Purchase records may still be associated with the same app installation or restored transaction; an automatically generated identifier does not mean that no data is collected. 4. Permissions, support, and website requests

Camera access is used only when you choose to take a photo. The system photo and file pickers provide access to material you select. You can manage camera access in iOS Settings. Knoobi does not request your contacts, precise location, microphone, or advertising identifier.

If you email support, we receive your email address, message, and anything you attach. Please share only what is needed. These support pages are hosted on Vercel; ordinary web requests may include an IP address, requested page, browser information, and service logs. The Knoobi pages do not add advertising cookies or a marketing analytics script. See Vercel's Privacy Policy.

5. Purposes, sharing, and international processing

We use information to provide quizzes and reviews, save and sync learning progress, manage subscriptions, answer support requests, secure services, and meet legal obligations. We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

The providers described above process information needed for these services. Information may also be disclosed where required by law or necessary to protect users and the service. Processing can take place outside your country, including in the United States. Provider contracts and applicable transfer safeguards govern international processing where required.

Where data-protection law requires a legal basis, processing relies on providing the service you request, legitimate interests in security and service operation, applicable legal obligations, or consent where required. Device permissions can be withdrawn through iOS Settings; you can avoid future quiz-generation transfers by not submitting further material.

6. Retention, deletion, and your choices

Learning data is kept until you remove it. In Knoobi, open Settings → Learning data → Delete all learning data to remove the app's profile, study sets, and progress. When iCloud sync is active, cloud-backed deletions propagate to other devices after synchronization. Originals in Photos or Files, separate device backups, and previously processed provider records are not erased by that action.

Apple and RevenueCat retain purchase records under their policies and legal obligations. AIProxy and OpenAI retain operational records according to their applicable policies; deleting learning data does not automatically delete those records. Support correspondence is kept for as long as needed to handle the request, resolve follow-up issues, or meet legal obligations. We do not promise a single deletion period for every provider.

You can request access, correction, deletion, or a copy of personal information we can identify, and exercise applicable rights to object, restrict processing, or withdraw consent, by emailing alexnsbmr@gmail.com. We may need information to verify and locate your records because Knoobi has no user accounts. You may also contact your local data-protection authority, including Switzerland's Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner. Deleting app data does not cancel a subscription; manage subscriptions in your Apple Account settings.

7. Younger users

Knoobi is a general study tool, not a service directed specifically at children under 13. Younger users should involve a parent or guardian where required by local law and Apple's rules. If you believe a child has submitted personal information without the required permission, contact us so we can address the request and assist with deletion.

8. Changes

We may update this policy when the app or its providers change. We will update the effective date and provide additional notice where required. The current version is always available on this page.
